Katana Laito Hand made in small smith in complicate technique with two separate parts of the blade, tempered in different conditions: the cutting edge side uagane – sharp and hard, the spine core side shingane – elastic. Only the casting process last 4 days. Casted block of steel named tamahagane was forged many times. The steel had a lot of air access to minimaze the carbon in it. The blade was sharpened in 14th stages, on the beginning with thick-seeded stones and next with gradually smaller grains inside. Specifications: Total length: 103 cm / 40.6 inch Blade's length: 73 cm / 28.7 inch Hilt length (tsuka): 27 cm / 10.6 inch Weight: 2 kg This blade was made of 1060 steel. The hilt is wood, both hand, covers by light ray skin and plaited by thread material to better grip. Tsuba (rounded guard) forged of copper. The set include black scabbard with threads for tie to the belt on the hip high and placed sheath horizontally.
