It has been produced since 1938, and was designed by Carl Walther. When the German Army received the design, they requested external hammer to be added. What is more, there were some experimental models produced, as well, known as .45 ACP and .38 Super. Those items, however, have never been manufactured on a large scale. This replica is a semi-automatic pistol that was developed by Walther arms as the service pistol of the Wehrmacht shortly before World War II. To the end of WWII they produced approximately 1,32 million pieces. During the cold war period the Walther pistols became popular on the whole world. They gained big famous in mass culture. The production ends in 2004.
