Sabers

Sabers

Polish saber, is a weapon, which name derives from Hungarian and can be translated as ?a tool to cut with?. Although the first type of sabre-like arms were found in Central Europe in the 7th century, it has developed to be a much more sophisticated weapon. Until the 19th century it was perceived as a very important symbol of Polish aristocracy during the times of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Additionally, after the election of Stefan Batory as a king of Poland, the Polish army was equipped with sabres. Polish fascination with Eastern culture resulted in the weapon being an indispensable part of the aristocracy's attire.
