This saber is an example of a luxurious weapon made in the Krakow studio of Henryk Sztorc on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Polish Legions (August 1914).

The model has a blunt blade but is suitable for sharpening.

 


BLADE: HIGH CARBON STEEL 1060 FORGED AND HAND HARDENED (requires maintenance) HARDENING TO: 52-54 HRC

 

On the inner amphibian of the blade, in a cartouche decorated with oak leaves, etched letters L.P., the inscription 6 / VIII / MY / PIERWSZA / BRYGADA, below, on the background of crossed sabers, rifles and a cannon barrel, the badge "For faithful service" and the date 1914.

On the outer amphibian, in a similar decoration, the letters W.P. and the inscription FOR / FAITH / FOR / FREEDOM / FOR HONOR / HOMELAND, below, an eagle in a crown and the date 1919.

 

Scabbard: steel - polished (requires maintenance). Leather lining inside. You can keep a saber in a scabbard without fear of corrosion.

Handle: engraved brass

FRAGMENT OF THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION BELOW:

"Closed handle, brass binding. Cross-bow in the middle part thickened and widened with triangular mustaches. The front arm of the guard is bent at a right angle, then with a convex arc connected to the pommel. with a crowned eagle, passing into a braid reaching the crossguard. On the pommel there is a rosette-shaped nut that fixes the pivot pin. SZTORC / KRAKÓW.

A polished steel blade with a low curvature, ground on both sides into single grooves. Feather with a highly marked backbone, double-edged, decentric point. On the inner amphibian of the blade, in a cartouche decorated with oak leaves, etched letters LP, the inscription 6 / VIII / MY / PIERWSZA / BRYGADA, below, against the background of crossed sabers, rifles and a cannon barrel, the badge "For faithful service" (established by Józef Piłsudski in August 1916 year) and the date 1914.

On the external amphibian, in a similar decoration, the letters W.P. and the inscription FOR / FAITH / FOR / FOR FREEDOM / FOR HONOR / HOMELAND, below the crowned eagle and the date 1919. The spine of the head is also decorated. A nickel-plated steel scabbard with two grooves and movable wheels. Asymmetrical spur. "1.
