SERIES OF RED ARMY, STALINGRAD, WINTER 1943 12703
The struggle for Stalingrad (August 1942- February 1943) was a breakthrough for the fate of the campaign in the east, and as a result the Red Army captured the strategic initiative that it did not give until the end of the war. Soviet uniforms were characterized by simplicity and great utility values. A private man bears the so-called tiełogriełkę (also known as a watch) made of strong cotton fabric khaki color, padded with raw cotton and sewn into stripes. Tiełogriełki was replaced by uncomfortable cloth coats (coats). On the head hat made of artificial fur, worn since 1941 instead of a less practical cloth pointy budionnówki. Insulated trousers, in the form of breeches, leather shoes (at low temperatures felt felt boots were also used). Main belt made of fabric, economical. The equipment consists of a backpack, shovels, canteens, bags for pgas mask. The weapon is a PPS submachine gun with 41 caliber 7.62 mm (drum magazine, 71 cartridge).
